ARTIST STATEMENT:
Does drawing feel like it should be so simple but it’s just beyond your ability? Most young artists are frustrated, discouraged and self-critical with their drawing skills; a skill which is the foundational beginning to all other art forms, whether realistic, abstract or imagined. I experienced this myself growing up as I loved creating but was challenged when it came to taking my ideas to the next level. It was a challenging and difficult journey to find my way as a young artist.

Upon experiencing breakthroughs, I became passionate about sharing my victories with others, and that’s why over the years I’ve developed a simple step-by-step teaching method and hands-on training that teaches you the foundational art discipline of how to draw, paint, sculpt in a way that lays the groundwork for all of your creative expression, empowering you to thrive in all areas of life! I’m here to help you grow creatively, moving from art observer to master artist, whether you are just starting out or have been enjoying art for years!

FUN FACTS & INSPIRATION:
I currently am passionate about bringing healing and wholeness to my clients through “hidden in my heart” clay wall-pieces which hold a daily word reminder of strength, hope and love; placed in their home or office the words bring encouragement to them throughout their day. Clay hearts are created using potters clay, runner stamps for lettering, and beaded wires for hangers. These wall sculpture hearts in the show are finished with cone 6 glazes.

My canvas tree image was created using charcoal on canvas; a wet brush was used to blend the charcoal across the surface. The imagery begins with the seed, which needs to shed its shell in order to bring forth new growth. As an artist I continue to challenge myself to shed the old by allowing new ideas and learnings to lead me into new imagery or ways of doing things. The tree gets its nourishment from the river, an analogy from the bible book of the psalms and revelations which speaks to getting unending nourishment from the living god to be fruitful in every season of our lives. The figurative tree has an ongoing fire on the altar of her heart representing ongoing renewal and vitality.
