Sherwood Youth Sinfonietta

9 Weeks + Performance | 8 - 18 years (3rd - 12th grade)
Beginners and players with 1-2 years of experience are introduced to all aspects of playing a string instrument. Students will learn correct posture and how to produce a beautiful tone. They will be taught to replicate rhythms with the bow and to play in tune with their fingers so they can practice and refine their technique during home practice. Through fun music games and simple tunes, group interaction in this class will makes music reading a breeze! Each term will end with a final per formance with the Sherwood Youth Symphony. Additional opportunities for community performances and outings will be offered throughout the year.

Sherwood Youth Symphony

9 Weeks + Performance | 10 - 18 years (5th - 12th grade)
Violin, viola, cello, and bass players with more than two years of experience make up the string section of this orchestral ensemble. Wind, brass, and percussion players must have four or more years previous experience on their instrument. This performing ensemble will learn and perform great works of varying styles and origins that are kid-friendly, inspiring, and moving. The level of difficulty and lessons in theory will be shaped around the skill level of the students enrolled. Lessons in class will teach techniques that support good practice at home. Each term will end with a performance with the Sherwood Youth Sinfonietta. Additional opportunities for community performances, enrichment, and outings will be offered throughout the year.
