Musician: Maggie Hannahs

MEET THE MUSICIAN

Maggie Hannahs is a fiddler based in the Portland, OR area, where she plays various folk and traditional styles with a focus on the Scottish, English, Irish, and Scandinavian musical traditions. She began learning classical violin as a child growing up in England, and quickly began to branch out into folk music, spending ten consecutive years attending the Folkworks Youth Summer School in Durham and learning from a wide range of fantastic musicians. More recently, she has performed solo in several different venues, as well as regularly collaborating with other musicians to play dance music throughout the Pacific Northwest for events held by the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society. Less formally, she often drops by the Westside Irish Music Session in Tigard, OR, to join in with their weekly jamming.
