Growing a World in Glass
4 weeks | 7 - 12 years
Educating kids about growing terrariums nurtures a curiosity for all things living, whether they be tiny plants or animals. We will be addressing each element in making terrariums with a variety of plants and how to care for them. Which plants belong in an open container and which ones in a sealed jar. How to maintain a terrarium and what's needed. What is a bioactive terrarium and why is it important? Students will have a step by step terrarium project for all to enjoy. Please bring the $20 supply fee to the instructor on the first day of class.

Science Behind the Scenes
4 weeks | 7- 12 years
Using a box and white cardstock model templates, students will create a classic card model of a to scale set design of their own. The print, cut & paste templates allow you the opportunity to experiment with ideas and experience what set designers in productions use to share with others in a play production. Students will be working with standard scaled flats with choices of 1,2,3,4 & 5' wide x 10' high scaled down to a model. Standard size flats both blank and containing baseboard, mitred trim, and square corner block trim around doorways and windows will help detail a set design. They will elevate their sets with a wide range of stair options, and basic domestic furniture.
