Join the City of Sherwood, friends and neighbors Friday, November 10 at 11am for the annual Veterans Day Ceremony. Engage in the stories and honor those who have served, with the American Legion Color Guard, music by the Sherwood High School Mixolydians and a special presentation "Red Tail Angels: Legendary American Aviators" by Sig Unander!

Enjoy light refreshments by Sprinkles of Joy Bakery and Symposium Coffee in the lobby. The ceremony will take place at the Sherwood Center for the Arts, located at 22689 SW Pine Street, Sherwood OR. ABOUT THE PRESENTATION: 

Red Tail Angels: Legendary American Aviators

The first black fighter pilots to fly and fight for their country, the “Red Tail Angels” blazed a trail of glory in the frozen skies over Germany in World War II. Led by Col. Benjamin Davis, they fought. Nazi tyranny abroad and helped end segregation in the Armed Forces at home.

 

ABOUT THE PRESENTER, SIG UNANDER: 

A professional communicator and native of the Pacific Northwest, Sig worked around the United States in print and broadcast journalism, eventually returning to Portland, where he was a public relations manager, communications consultant and magazine editor. He also ran a fine art publishing business, coordinated air shows and worked for a film production company before becoming a public speaker, writer and filmmaker.

Sig has performed extensive public service, serving as an elected and appointed local government official and on academic and nonprofit boards. He holds degrees in Political Science and Latin American Studies and has spoken at universities, museums, and associations in several countries.
