BIO & ARTIST STATEMENT
Based in Portland, Oregon, MIX is a group of artists dedicated to the creation of original fiber art. Through monthly meetings, members share feedback, explore design across media, and develop work around shared themes. Techniques range from dyeing and printing to quilting and embroidery. With diverse life experiences and artistic perspectives, MIX members engage in lively conversation that often extends beyond fiber art to include contemporary art, cultural topics, and global issues. These dialogues spark bold, thought-provoking designs and foster a dynamic creative environment.
This exhibit was inspired by the work of women artists across a variety of media—sculpture, printmaking, painting, photography, and digital art. Each participating textile artist selected one woman artist whose work sparked their imagination. Drawing from that inspiration—whether it be in form, color, or concept—we created original textile pieces that reflect our personal interpretations. Wall labels of each work identify the woman artist whose work inspired the textile interpretation.
