I love the human connection. I think it’s cool that there are so many elements to photographing a person, facial features, expressions, emotions, body type how the light falls on the subject, scene and wardrobe color choice. If all those things are in sync then you have an aesthetically pleasing memory that will last forever.
My motto on how I live my life is to live it authentically. I identified that a few years ago and honestly I’m a little annoyed that it’s an overused word now. But I’m sticking with it because it’s the best to way to describe my relationship with people. It’s really simple, be open and do right by people. Say what you really feel and if you don’t feel it don’t say it and if something doesn’t feel right don’t do it. You would think it’s an easy, logical and stress-free way to live and it is but I’m caught off guard to find that some people aren’t who they say they are.
As far as my business goes, I do it because I want to inspire my children to do what they love in life. Tragedy has come to visit one too many times in life and I believe showing your kids that life moves on and you can live an amazing life despite injustice, makes an impact. I have a home office and studio set up. Typically we meet at the office for viewing and ordering appointments and 95% of the photo-shoots are on location. The studio setup is an option. I love getting personal with the location and also the lighting is different. I kind of gravitate toward natural lighting. Photography is my main focus and I love it.
I’m also the producer of the Feme-Grit podcast featuring empowering conversations with phenomenal females about life business and womanhood. That’s my side passion project and but it all comes full circle. It’s a great compliment to what I do because it goes deeper into the human soul. I love those intimate conversations.
